Fiamma is Chairperson of the BPI Medical Advisory Board. After graduating in medicine in Ireland (University College Dublin) and specializing in general practice, Fiamma obtained further diplomas and Master’s degrees in the science of nutrition and orthomolecular medicine in Germany, in homeotoxicology in Italy, in acupuncture in Finland and Germany, in psychopharmacology at Harvard University (USA), in psychosomatic medicine at the University of Freiburg (Germany), in advanced paediatric allergology and immunology, and in psychoneuroimmunology at two universities in Rome.
She is the author of several books and articles, a Member of the Scientific Committee of the journal ‘Scienza e Conoscenza’ and Medical Advisor with responsibility for the training of Buteyko practitioners in the Italian Buteyko organization, for which she also writes a monthly newsletter.
During the last 12 years, having delved into the physiological, medical and practical aspects of the Buteyko Method Fiamma has been actively spreading knowledge of the Buteyko Method in Italy, with her book on Buteyko (“Attacco all’asma… e non solo”) now in its 3rd edition, with numerous articles, interviews, presentations through live TV and radio, and lectures on nutrition and hyperventilation at the European Space Agency (ESA) and Siena University.
She is a physician in general practice and is registered with the Irish Register of Medical Specialists and the Italian Medical Register. Fiamma integrates breathing re-training into her medical practices in Rome, Florence, Modena, and Siena. She is a Member of the Buteyko Breathing Educators Association and a Fellow of Buteyko Professionals International. Fiamma is fluent in English, Italian and German and has a good knowledge of French and Spanish.
