About Me

Originally from Ireland, Dara Coleman is a graduate of the William Esper Studio in New York City. He is an experienced actor with a demonstrated history of working in the performing arts industry, including the Theatre, Television and Film.

After a car crash in 2012, through recovery he started researching meditation and various breathing methods. Exploring Transcendental Meditation, Pranayama, the Wim Hof Method and Stan Grof’s Holotropic Breathing Method, he began to understand the extraordinary power of the breath.

At that time certified training was quite limited, but eventually he found the Buteyko Method and was taught by Patrick McKeown of The Buteyko Clinic International, Galway, Ireland. With a keen interest also in Yogic practices, he added certification in Pranayama through Michaël Bijker of Yogalap (Yoga Alliance), Sagres, Portugal.

Through working with people from all walks of life—from musicians, to actors, to police, parents, and business folk—Dara has developed a heightened awareness that human beings often have very different needs. With discipline and commitment, he works with a holistic approach, paying attention to the 24-hour routine of sleep, diet, and exercise.

He combines both the Buteyko Method and Pranayama and aims to adapt the breathing techniques and patterns that suit the needs of each person he works with. From children to adults, couples and small groups, clients come mostly through referral.

He has taught in Ireland, New York, and at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California. He is interested in helping people with many conditions such as PTSD, ADHD, trauma, panic, mania, anxiety, stress, and insomnia. Even with healthy individuals, many find they can take their lives to another level through learning and practicing conscious breathing.

He offers weekly or daily sessions that run 60 or 30 minutes long. He is available for teaching through FaceTime, Zoom, and in person when possible.
