My journey into breathwork began with my deep passion for the yoga path, where the mastery of pranayama, or breath control, is fundamental before meditation. I see the breath as a gateway to exploring our inner landscape—when used correctly, it has the power to calm or invigorate. My career began as a learning disability nurse, where scientific evidence formed the foundation of my practice. This initially contrasted with the intuitive, experiential nature of the yoga breathing techniques I had been practicing. However, when I discovered Buteyko breathing, it perfectly bridged these two worlds. It provided a method grounded in science while still honoring the wisdom of breath as taught in yoga. While I am no longer nursing, for the past 20 years I have continued my journey as a yoga instructor, acquiring numerous bodymind qualifications that empower me as a well-being practitioner specializing in anxiety, stress, and chronic pain recovery. I take a multimodal approach, tailoring my methods to each client’s needs and preferences. Buteyko breathing practices are a key cornerstone in enabling my clients to live and move with greater ease.
