Felipe Torres, M.D.
I earned my medical degree from NOVA Medical School (Universidade Nova de Lisboa) and, after completing my general training, spent two years working as an ER physician during the pandemic. Following that, I worked in Infection Prevention and Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship for another two years. Throughout my medical career, I became increasingly interested in holistic approaches to health, especially the profound connection between body and mind. This led me to dive into psychology, neuroscience, meditation, and breathwork which became a key focus in my approach to managing stress and enhancing mental and physical health. As a certified Buteyko Clinic International instructor, I now help individuals and organizations improve their health, manage stress, and optimize performance through science-backed functional breathing techniques. I also see mindfulness as a powerful tool that, when combined with functional breathing, can create a synergistic effect, deepening awareness and improving self-regulation. This realization motivated me to complete a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course, and I now integrate both practices into my work. Additionally, insights from Polyvagal Theory (PVT) have transformed my understanding of the nervous system and mental fitness, further enriching my approach to holistic well-being. These tools have revolutionized my approach to health, helping people shift from stress and anxiety to calm and control. By combining these practices, we can transform our response to challenges and build lasting resilience. My mission is to empower others to breathe better, live with intention, and thrive—one breath at a time.
