Hello, I’m Karmyn Tyler, a certified instructor at Buteyko Clinic International.
Karmyn Tyler has been teaching private voice and diction since 1998. She has two fine arts degrees in Music and Theatre from Texarkana College. She trained in opera performance at Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana, and graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's in Applied Arts and Sciences. Karmyn also completed her Master's in Communication Sciences and Disorders from New York University.
Additionally, Karmyn is a professional singer/songwriter/actress and a voting member of the Screen Actors Guild, AFTRA, Actors Equity, BMI, the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (Grammy's), the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and a lifetime member of Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity.
She became interested in breathing disorders and treatments when her father was diagnosed with COPD. She found the Buteyko technique after traditional breathing techniques did not work for her asthma. She accredits the Buteyko technique for significantly reducing her need for asthma inhalers and for helping minimize anxiety.
She enjoys working with all ages and, in particular, clients who suffer from chronic asthma, dyspnea, hyperventilation, and performance anxiety. As a speech-language pathologist, Karmyn works with other dysfunctional breathing patterns that interfere with communication, including COPD, chronic cough, motor speech disorders, and working with patients after lung transplant surgery.
Karmyn lives in Manhattan and has a private voice and breathing therapy practice in Harlem. Clients include professional child and adult actors/singers, TV/Film personalities, singer/songwriters, political figures, and social media influencers.
You can contact her through her studio website: www.ktvocalstudio.com.
