About Me

Nerissa is a Myofunctional Therapist, Sleep and Breathing Educator, and she has worked in the Dental Hygiene field for over 25 years. Nerissa is a graduate of the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry Dental Hygiene Program.

She brings a wealth of experience to the dental industry and is a regular presence at national and international dental and medical conferences, detailing education for optimal health in airway growth, development, and function. Nerissa is actively spreading the word about the importance of dental airway screening and patient education.

She has undergone intensive training in orofacial myology that includes access to and understanding of thorough treatment programming that is individualized and based on the evaluation findings and unique needs of each client or patient. She has completed and received her Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy certificate from the Academy of Oral Myofunctional Therapy (AOMT), is a Certified Orofacial Myologist (COM®) Certification Candidate through the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM), and has completed The Breathe Institute (TBI)’s Myo Masterminds Program — the first of its kind and the most advanced and comprehensive 9-month literature and case-based course available today, offering 88 hours of instruction and hands-on learning.

Nerissa serves as an in-house expert on Sleep, Healing, and Recovery as a fundamental element of the healing and self-care practice at Advance Peace, a national Community Violence Intervention (CVI) practitioner.

Her work supports improvements in the health and life span of emergency first responders, violence interrupters, and community mediators from around the country.
