Patrick McKeown

Overview

Course Objectives:

Assess breathing patterns in paediatric and adult client population.

Gain an understanding of breathing pattern disorders and their effect on craniofacial development, sleep disorders, mental and respiratory health in children and adults.

Explore strategies to help restore nasal breathing and functional breathing during wakefulness and sleep. Treating the nose does not guarantee persistent nasal breathing. For many clients, it is necessary to address mouth breathing behaviour and breathing volume.

Know which breathing exercises and daily program to teach for each of the following:
- Sleep disordered breathing
- Anxiety and panic attacks
- Asthma and respiratory health
- Children and teens with dysfunctional breathing patterns

Implement a variety of breathing protocols according to your client's health, age and breathing pattern, offering a tailored approach for improved outcomes.
