Nicola Stoke
Nicola is a medical doctor based in London, UK who has worked in the NHS since 2014. She has worked in the fields of anaesthetics, intensive care and emergency medicine, as well as working for different humanitarian organisations between 2016-2018.Over the last few years, she has felt frustrated at the state of the NHS and healthcare in the UK, and feels that we're never really getting to the root causes of disease. We far underestimate the social determinants of health: housing, education and employment security. And in an underfunded NHS the tools for health maintenance, such as breathwork are not available on the NHs.
Nicola’s breathwork journey began in Aug 2022, when she experienced box breathing for the first time which was a profound experience. In January 2024, she trained in the Buteyko technique, after training in a different breathwork technique called SomaBreath. She is also training in the conscious connected breath with a decolonial and social justice lens with Inspire Breathwork.
Nicola is committed to decolonising her practice and working in the social justice space. She strongly believes that this is necessary to bring breathwork in all its varieties into the public sector. She is always keen to collaborate with others to do this, so do get in contact if this is also your calling!
