ivanoIvan Pardo. Buteyko Breathing Boston.

Buteyko Breathing Educator and Holistic Therapist,

Member of Buteyko Breathing Educators Association.

It was a history of asthma in the Pardo family which convinced Ivan to try and find an effective, scientifically-based, drug-free solution to this problem. For more than 20 years Ivan had been studying alternative medicine; he trained in many therapies including Reiki, Tong Reng, EFT and Qi Gong. However, once he found Breathing Retraining he knew that he had before him exactly what he needed.

Over 50 years ago, Dr. Konstantin Buteyko discovered the connection between hyperventilation and illnesses such as asthma, sleep apnea, cancer and more. He provided an indisputable scientific answer to Ivan’s long years of research. Accordingly, it became Ivan’s passion to study and master the discipline of Breathing Retraining.

Today Ivan has attained Buteyko Specialist Certification and is a member of BBEA, the Buteyko Breathing Educators Association. He also belongs to IACT, the International Association of Counsellors and Therapists. He has joined a worldwide cadre of breathing specialists whose work is done in conjunction with other professionals to reduce or alleviate a myriad of medical conditions

HadasHadas Golan – Boston

MS/CCC-SLP

Hadas Golan had suffered from asthma and allergies since early childhood. When she was 40, she learned about the Buteyko method through a professional email list. Against her skepticism, she noticed that her asthma symptoms have quickly disappeared after a few days of practice. A few months later she realized that allergies, headaches, and skin conditions were all gone as all the body systems started to work more effectively. She was so impressed with what she experienced in practicing Buteyko that she decided to become an instructor. Hadas was certified by Jennifer Stark with the BIBH in 2007.

Hadas is a performing artist and a speech and language pathologist specialized in the care of the professional voice. She is working at the Otolaryngology department in Boston Medical Center. She offers Buteyko classes and individual sessions, and incorporates correct breathing principles into her work with speakers and singers.

joyce dendy imgJoyce Dendy – Waltham

Growing up with asthma, I wouldn’t let it interfere with my desire to run and play sports. Had I listened to my doctors I would be a “walking medicine cabinet” likely with limited ability to be active. When I was 13, I was thrown from a horse, but got back in the saddle. My first experience with back spasms occurred while playing high school basketball. Years later, an x-ray revealed a spondylolisthesis; surgery wasn’t an option.

These experiences influenced my desire to learn about alternative methods for controlling my asthma and alleviating pain. I earned a BA in Biology from Anna Maria College and a MS in Nutrition from Boston University. I founded Affirmative Fitness in 1995. My quest for knowledge lead me to Z-Health where I earned a Master Trainer Certification; US Squash earning a Level 1 Coach Certification; NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and HKC Kettlebell Instructor.

I am a Training and Performance Coach and Dietitian, incorporating a neurocentric approach to identify and retrain dysfunctional movement and breathing patterns. The Buteyko Clinic Method complements my practice. Breathing and movement are intimately tied, and my clients typically have pain and performance issues, including back pain, postural and balance issues, post-Covid complications, asthma, snoring, and sleep apnea.
